IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONTRACTORS?

The Bay Area is home to thousands of contractors.  Unlike a small town setting, where word travels fast, a contractor in the Bay Area can continue to find work even with a bad track record.  Be sure that your contractor is licensed and insured for your type of project.  Be sure that your type of project is something that they have proven experience and success.  Be sure to review their portfolio and references.  Ask any and all questions that come to mind, then ask some more…until you are comfortable.  Your contractor will be in your home for an extended period of time.  You need to have confidence in their craftsmanship.  You need to have confidence in their communication.  Week after week you will interact with each other…you should like them as a person.  You will never find the best contractor by picking the lowest price.  And picking the wrong contractor is the biggest mistake you can make on your project.
